About Mtaala
Mtaala began in 2008 as a pet project for a few of us who wanted to help Alice, a determined ex-headmistress, who, restless in retirement, had set up a makeshift school out of her home on the shores of Lake Victoria in her native Uganda to provide education for a handful of needy and vulnerable children.
Five years on, her home is now a fully fledged school with proper education facilities, accommodating 100 students. But our work is not finished. Alice wants to make room for a few more children yet, and also wants to ensure that her school is as good as it can be - giving every one of its students the best possible education.
We rely on volunteer support and donations. Alice has big dreams, and we’re here to make sure she realises them. Join us. Find out how to Get involved. Mtaala Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 in the US, a registered charity in the UK, and a registered NGO in Uganda. All donations are tax deductible.
